Anamix 6
Phenylketonuria (PKU) is a condition where high levels of phenylalanine exist in a child’s bloodstream. Left unaddressed, brain development can be affected. But dietary management products such as Anamix can help the child enjoy a normal lifestyle. NuBlue was asked to create a website that helped children feel at ease with their condition, and with Anamix.

The Brief
Anamix wanted a site that gave children simple, honest information on PKU. The site needed to be visually stimulating and sufficiently engaging to capture a child’s attention. It also needed to explain the condition, and the way in which Anamix could help, in a fun, dynamic way.

The Solution
A flash based website with interactive characters ‘The Anamix 6’ would introduce children to PKU within an entertaining yet informative environment. Flash games would make learning interactive, hiding the educational element within a fun, engaging design.

The Result
Many health care professionals have recommended the website as a great resource to use when working with children suffering from PKU. Despite being aimed at a niche audience the website has received a significant and growing level of traffic since launch.

Although still in its infancy, this has created a great deal of interest from the parents and children suffering with PKU. This is the first site designed to educate children and it gives them a sense of identity. Anecdotally, the children seem to be complying more too and taking their medicine on a daily basis.
