What is anti virus system do you use?  When I went to get my computer cleaned out the tech told me to use AGV because it is free.
Do you think that AGV is as good as those that you pay for?

I use Norton Anti-virus.  I had AVG on my last computer when my Norton ran out.  I had a lot of ads keep popping up and then other things happen.  I ended up buying a new computer.  I know a lot of people think AVG works great, I'm not one of them.

In order to getrid of nightmarish experiences of computer virus you can choose either McAfee Viruscan Plus 2009 or Norton AntiVirus 2009. I have been using the former which provides facilities for Anti-virus, Anti-spyware, Firewall protection and Web Safety Ratings.
McAfee Viruscan Plus 2009 protects your computer and all its software programs nicely. Still it takes enough time to download new versions regularly and almost on the daily basis whenever you will switch your machine on in every morning. I sit idle till it finishes itsscheduled jobs of downloading and updating and I feel my machine for those forced time-span runs slowly.
The good news is that your renewal cost will be a half or less than a half by which you have purchased the software earlier. Still you must seek the offer and bargain. Still it is good.
Norton Anti-Virus 2009 is dependable anti-virus software which I have not yet used. I have learned from my friend that it works pretty well. It is a huge software anyway.
AVG one I did use years back. Presently the above-stated ones are far better.

So if I do purchase one of these anti-virus software, do I have to purchase it for each one of my computers?  We have one desktop and 3 laptops in our house.  Do you know if there is a package or something if you have many computers?

Both McAfee Viruscan Plus 2009 or Norton AntiVirus 2009 are passive scanners correct? They are not going to do anything until there is already something nasty on your machine.

I run ESET NOD32 and it works amazing, stops things in their tracks, before, they are infesting my machine.

No, I think they are both supposed to not let it get into your system?  Or so I thought.  That is why I paid for them, to not let things happen to the computer.  I had to buy a new computer because the last one got a virus.

Is  ESET NOD32  about the same prices as Norton?  I am looking for one that really works.  I am sick of this AGV!  Even thought it was recommended, I don't think it works well.

I don't use any anti-virus systems. I never have had any problems with my computer, and hopefully I won't any time soon.  We used to use McAfee on my computer at work, but now we use Norton.

What is ESET NOD32? I'm looking for a good program to buy my mum for Christmas, as she has a PC and needs the protection for her computer.  I'm not a fan of Norton.
