Magento Connect problems
Hi
I have installed Magento but have a problem with Magento Connect, Is anyone able to advise? I have a number of community modules installed but do not have a Channel: connect.magentocommerce.com/community showing at all? I would expect it to be below the core channel as I have seen before but there is just a ?commit changes? button at the bottom of the Channel: connect.magentocommerce.com/core list?
Could it be a permissions issue? I can't change the Preferred State in Settings either? When I change the state drop-down to Stable and press Save Settings I get a ?Settings has been successfully saved? message but then the drop-down still shows Beta.

I'm afraid the preferred state is an issue in Magento that never seems to have been resolved (even though it does change the state). Go to the httpdocs/downloader/config.ini file. Here you can view the actual preferred state. Try changing it, then check the file and you'll see what the downloader is actually using.
In regard to the community error I would check your ownerships, permissions, your config.ini and your pear.ini. Also check that your Magento shows there are Community extensions installed.
Hope this sorts out your Magento issuses..... well some of them at least:)
