Name server problem
I have a Finnish domain regulated by the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority. They check name servers monthly and advise me of a problem.
I have a shared hosting account with NuBlue and all five websites are working without problems.
My first name server works ok but my second name server fails on reverse lookup. On checking these I find that the
first name server 77.240.14.225 returns shared2.nuserver.co.uk
but the second name server 77.240.14.226 returns 77-240-14-226.melbourne.co.uk.
The FCRA say they could revoke my domain because of this failure.
Are you aware of this problem anywhere else and what cause it?
Regards
Peter
Hi Peter,
The problem, essentially, was that we hadn't set reverse DNS for the IP attached to that DNS. I've rectified that issue now and I'm sorry it's caused you any worries - please get back to your registrar now, and I'm sure everything will be fine. If it's not then get back in touch with us and we'll help you resolve the issue.
Kind Regards,
Ewan
Thank you Ewan
I also discovered after investigation that a second NS type record appeared to be required for the second name server. This seems to be the case for other country specific name servers as well. I added that and have now received the message that:-
'Domain's name servers validated according to Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority specifications'.
Can't do better than that!
Regards
Peter
