Magento Error - With brand new install
Installed Magento using the Nublue Magento install last night, left it to do its thing.
trying to access certain pages brings up this error.
There has been an error processing your request
Exception printing is disabled by default for security reasons.
Error log record number: 648561916
Anything I need to have enabled on the hosting to get this damn thing to work? I never seem to have any luck with magento

I think I've rectified this.
In Plesk, Hosting Setup - PHP was set to safe mode.
Un-checked that, seems to have fixed the problem for now. I hope this helps anyone else in the future ![]()
Hi Drax,
Glad you found the source of the issue.
The new error reporting in magento, although secure, is not very helpful. if you check the /var/reports/error_number file you'll usually see something along the lines of
"SAFE MODE restriction in effect"
Which points to safe mode being on for the domain name.
Thanks, I had precisely this error. A quick search in this forum popped up this post.
Switched off PHP 'safe_mode'
And it's all working much better.
Thanks
Hi Andij,
I'm glad that you found our search function useful.
For anyone else who is looking to solve a similar problem, you can disable PHP 'safe_mode' by following this process:
For Plesk 8.6
1) Log into your Plesk Hosting Control Panel,
2) Click on 'Domains' in the side bar,
3) Click on your relevant domain,
4) Click on 'Setup',
5) Scroll down, and under 'Services' you will see 'PHP support'. Ensure that the tick box on the right of "PHP 'safe_mode' on" is un-ticked.
For Plesk 9.x
1) Log into your Plesk Hosting Control Panel,
2) Click on 'Domains' in the side bar,
3) Click on your relevant domain,
4) Click on 'Web Hosting Settings',
5) Scroll down, and under 'Services' you will see 'PHP support'. Ensure that the tick box on the right of "PHP 'safe_mode' on" is un-ticked.
Please make sure that you un-tick the correct box, as you don't want to go inadvertently turning off PHP ![]()
