DNS changes..... Help!
Hi,
I have just updated the DNS and Nameservers on my domain registration provider to point to to my new hosting account, but have found that when I update my site using the media-temple FTP, it still make changes on the site, is this correct? Any help would be great
Hi there,
DNS changes can take 24 - 48 hours to propagate, so this may be why you are viewing the site on an old server. Try clearing your cache, changing your connection DNS, or restarting your router (a last resort!).
Hope this helps ***
Hi guys
I'm also having a problem changing my DNS. Everytime I try and change my DNS I keep getting an error mentioning something about glue?! What does this mean? Does anyone have an ideas?

Essentially it means there isn't enough information for the registrar to accept that the DNS is legitimate. This can sometimes happen when the DNS hasn't been registered through the registrar of the domain you are using. Hopefully you will have the option to enter the IPs of the name servers as well as the nameservers themselves, this should fix the problem.
Hey guys,
I've setup my own DNS but I don't think I've done it right. I'm getting an error when trying to change the DNS on a domain I have. It says they're not authorative? Any ideas???
Have you registered the nameservers properly through the registrar of the domain itself? If you've simply used IP addresses that are available to you (ie IPs on your server, in your account etc) then some registrars are very picky about their DNS.
It has to be registered properly through the domain registrar so that the DNS is advertised correctly. You may also need to ensure that you have the correct DNS settings in your zone file.
Good Luck
Hi Guys,
HardDrive is correct here. The "glue" messages relate to a glue record. This is basically the record that takes the standard A record (for example namserver.luke.com) and lets the world know its going to be used as a name server. So if your name server address points to the right place but doesn't have a glue record its 50/50 that the record will be accepted as a name server (some registration companies are more picky than others).
