Hello NuBlue,

I was wondering if someone could help me.....I am looking at your Magento Gold package, how many products approximately would that be good for?

Hi Monica,

The package is on Shared Hosting.  It's a bit of a subjective question; how many products were you looking at adding to the store?

At the end of the day Magento is a very resource intensive application.  We have a 10 GB per domain per month limit on bandwidth usage, and obviously there are the disk space limits of the individual packages.

Magento will always be better suited to and run quicker on a VPS or a Dedicated server, particularly if you're looking at a large site.  A few hundred products, a low traffic instance of Magento, or a development site will run very nicely on Shared Hosting.  A few thousand products, high levels of traffic, or an important eCommerce site will be better off on it's own server.

Migrations between platforms (i.e. Shared to VPS) are handled entirely by us and don't represent any hassle on your part, as we handle the migration ourselves at a time that is mutually convenient (i.e. late at night).  Upgrades cost the difference between the old and the new package for the remainder of your contract.  So there are no disadvantages to starting out on a Shared Hosting package and upgrading your account, either to a shared package with higher limits or a higher performance platform.
