Why am I getting a 404 error when I try to view my web site?
A 404 error means that the file or directory you are trying to browse to cannot be found.
This can be for one of three reasons ? the file or directory does not exist; you have made a spelling mistake; or the web server is down.
In all these cases, make sure, first of all, that you have typed the destination URL in correctly, or the link that you have followed does not have a spelling mistake in it. If the destination is in your web space log in through your control panel or via FTP and make sure that it exists and you are following the correct link.
If you are certain that you are heading for the right location, open your command prompt (go to your start menu, click on run, type in cmd) and type in ping http://www.yourdomainname.extension ? if you get a response, then the server is functioning. If you get no response then you should contact us to see if there are any server issues.
