How do I configure my hosting to use Google Mail as the mail server?
Log in to the Plesk Control Panel, then click on Home, your domain name, and DNS Settings.
You will find a set of DNS records listed in a table, such as:
92.63.134.93/24 ------ PTR -------- nublue.co.uk
ftp.nublue.co.uk ------ CNAME ---- nublue.co.uk
mail.nublue.co.uk ----- A ---------- 92.63.134.93
ns.nublue.co.uk ------- A ---------- 92.63.134.93
ns2.nublue.co.uk ----- A ---------- 92.63.134.92
nublue.co.uk ----------- NS -------- ns.nublue.co.uk
nublue.co.uk ----------- NS -------- ns2.nublue.co.uk
nublue.co.uk ----------- A ---------- 92.63.134.93
nublue.co.uk ------- MX(10) --- mail.nublue.co.uk
webmail.nublue.co.uk - A ---------- 92.6..134.93
http://www.nublue.co.uk ----- CNAME --- nublue.co.uk
Click on the check box nexy to the MX(10) record and confirm that you wish to remove it. Once you have done this, click on ?Add Record?.
In the first drop down menu, select the Record type as ?MX?
Leave the ?Enter mail domain? box blank.
Under ?Enter Mail Exchanger?, you will need to enter one of the Google Mail records, and then set the priority of the mail record that corresponds to it. The records and priorities for Google Mail are as follows:
ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM - 1
ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM - 5
ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM - 5
ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM - 10
ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM - 10
Once you have added all of these records, you will be asked to Update the DNS records. All the changes you have made will be highlighted with a yello exclamation mark. If you are happy these records have been added correctly, click on the Update button.
Your DNS records are now set correctly to use Google Mail. Please bear in mind that DNS records will take time to update properly, and you may find that the changes do not take effect immediately. It may take up to 48 hours for these changes to propagate for use throughout the Internet, but in practice it should not take that long!
