What is Web Hosting?

Web Hosting is the term for providing space for the files that form your web site.  Every Hosting account comes with a certain amount of web space or storage, and you save your web site to this space – it is then available for users of the Internet.  You can design your own website but you will always need someone to Host it – to provide you with the space that you will put your website on for the world to see.  Hosting accounts also have a bandwidth limit – essentially, the amount of web traffic to and from your web space that your Host will allow.

Is Email provision included with my Hosting package?

All NuBlue Hosting accounts come with unlimited email addresses as standard.  To use our email service you must have a registered Domain Name and a Hosting account with NuBlue.

Can Hosting and Account preferences be changed online?

Hosting and account preferences can all be made through our powerful online Plesk™ Control Panel.  Whether you want to change your contact information, setup a new email address, redirect your website or email us a support question, you can manage your account within a few clicks and view the results instantly.

What exactly is Web Space and Bandwidth?

Web Space refers to the amount of online storage space available for your website within a chosen Hosting package.  In order to host a website that has 100MB of images, you would need at least 100MB of Web Space.  Web Space is, essentially, your own online hard drive.  If you outgrow your Web Space, your Hosting account can be upgraded with ease through your Plesk™ Control Panel.

Every time someone views your website, they are sent the files required to display your site.  This transfer of data uses Bandwidth – the amount of data that can be transmitted to or from your Web Space in a month.  If you require extra bandwidth, this can also be requested with ease through your Plesk™ Control Panel.

What payment methods are accepted for Web Hosting accounts?

For Web Hosting accounts and Domain Name registrations, we accept PayPal, as well as the following major Credit and Debit cards:  MasterCard, Solo, Visa, and Visa Electron.

Is there any type of website that you will not Host?

Yes.  NuBlue refuse to host any adult websites, any websites that promote hatred or prejudice, and all websites that contain illegal content or downloads.  All NuBlue Hosting accounts are monitored closely in the interest of all our clients.

Do you offer a Free Trial?

We do not offer Free Hosting trials, but we do offer a no fuss 30-day money back guarantee on all of our Hosting packages.  This does not extend to Domain Name fees or SSL Certificate purchases.

How long will it take for my Web Hosting account to be setup?

All Web Hosting accounts are activated within 12 hours of sign-up, seven days a week.  For security reasons and for the benefit of our existing clients, we manually check all Hosting sign-ups.

Do you charge VAT?

Yes VAT is charged on all Hosting and Domain purchases. All advertised prices except where specifically marked, are excluding VAT. Our UK VAT registration number is 865 6930 80.

Do I get an Invoice?

Every time you buy a product from NuBlue, we will email you an Invoice.  We don’t believe in wasting paper so paper copies of Invoices will not be provided. Invoices are, however, available to view and print (if you choose!) at any time in your online account management area.

Is it possible to buy Hosting without a Domain Name?

Yes.  You can either point an existing Domain at your new Hosting account, transfer a Domain into NuBlue from another company, or register a Domain with us at a later date using the Plesk™ Control Panel.

Why would I need a Dedicated IP?

The only extra cost for Hosting a secure site with NuBlue will be for the SSL Certificate.  The SSL Certificate is mapped to your Domain Name and is read by Internet browsers, showing the little yellow padlock to your visitors.

A variety of companies provide SSL Certificates.  You can securely purchase one online from our SSL page.

Are there any extra costs in Hosting a secure site?

Yes, to prove to your website visitors that your website is secure you will need an SSL certificate. The SSL certificate is mapped to your domain name and is read by internet browsers, showing the little yellow padlock to your visitors.

How can I view my Visitor Statistics?

All NuBlue Hosting packages come with Advanced Website Statistics to tell you who your visitors are, where they came from, how long they stayed and where they went.  Accurate Website Statistics (webstats) are crucial for building up an online marketing strategy.

You can access your webstats by visiting yourdomainname/webstats/ - so if your domain was faqexample.co.uk, to access the webstats you would navigate to http://www.faqexample.co.uk/webstats/

You will then be asked for a username and a password - they will be the same as your Hosting Control Panel login, and you will have be sent these by email as soon as you sign up with NuBlue.

What are the details for the NuBlue name servers?

If you wish to change the name servers of an existing Domain so that you can use NuBlue Hosting, you need to enter the following name servers.  We have listed the IP’s of the name servers as well, as some registrars require this information:

ns.yourdomainname.extension - 87.237.56.179
ns2.yourdomainname.extension - 87.237.56.177

If you are using our PHP 5 enabled server, you will have to use the following details instead:

ns3.nublue.co.uk - 77.240.14.225
ns4.nublue.co.uk - 77.240.14.226

Changing the name servers can take up to 24 hours to propagate, so it is best to make these changes during low impact timescales (for instance, the start of the weekend, or the evening).
