• Do I get SSH/Shell access?

  SSH / Shell access is not available on Shared Hosting under any circumstances. Clients who require SSH access will need to upgrade to a VPS or higher platform to enable this service. We are willing to run simple commands on the platform on your behalf – please contact us to discuss this.

• How well does Magento run on Shared Hosting?

  Magento is not designed to run on Shared Hosting; it is a resource intensive application and requires higher levels of resources to run than comparable shopping carts. However, we do optimise all of our hosting and select hardware specifically for the purposes of running Magento stores. Therefore, Shared Hosting is not the ideal platform for Magento, it will run happily on Shared Hosting if you are developing your store or running a low bandwidth site. No matter how hard we try (and we do!), in the end the best performance for Magento can only be realised on a Virtual or Dedicated server.

• Do I have remote MySQL access?

  We do not allow remote MySQL access on Shared Hosting under any circumstances, this is only available through the hosting control panel.

• What happens if I need to upgrade?

  Contact the support team and we will guide you through the process. Unless you need to move to another platform (i.e. a VPS) the upgrade will be seamless.

• What happens if I go over my limits?

  If you are over your account limits you will be notified via email with useful tips for reducing your usage. If you are repeatedly over your limits we will contact you to discuss your upgrade options.

• Is Shared Hosting PCI-DSS compliant?

  By its very nature, Shared Hosting is not PCI-DSS compliant. It is not possible to share a server with other clients and ensure that your billing area is isolated entirely from the other users, or that they themselves are compliant and secure (they may not even be running an eCommerce store!). There are too many variables and users to realistically achieve PCI-DSS compliancy on this platform. You would need to use an off-site payment gateway or upgrade to another platform (I.e. a Virtual or Dedicated server) to become compliant.

• What uptime guarantees do you offer?

  We do not offer uptime guarantees – our shared hosting runs according to a best endeavours policy.  We monitor all our servers 24/7 and we will always endeavour to ensure that uptime and the quality of the hosting is as high as possible.

• How will I know if my website will run on your Hosting?

  All of our hosting runs in a LAMP environment (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).  For specific versions or configurations you should send a ticket to support to ask how your prospective platform compares to your website's requirements.  More specific configurations may require a VPS or higher so that you can configure the hosting to match your requirements, but the only way to find out is to ask!

• Where are your servers based?

  All of our servers are based in the UK. We do not offer servers based outside of the UK.

• What settings do I need to setup my emails?

• Help – I think I’ve deleted my website!

  Don't worry!  If you have made backups through your control panel (a facility that is freely available to all of our clients) then you will be back in no time.  If you haven't made any backups just get in touch, as we keep full backups of all our servers for at least 14 days and will be able to restore your account for a small fee.
