Meridian Healthcare is an independent care service provider with centres across the north of England. Their focus is on improving older people’s quality of life – and often giving people a new lease on life too – by providing high-quality nursing, residential and dementia care in fresh, modern care homes. Our client came to us to create their new website to reflect their existing portfolio of Classic homes and their new collection of Premiere care homes.
Meridian’s Premiere care homes offer affordable luxury to older ladies and gentlemen. They embody Meridian’s belief in providing excellent and personalised care for older people, and it was crucial that the web design for their Premiere care homes reflected this focus on quality. Beyond the premium look and feel we created for Meridian Premiere, we also looked at ways to give visitors as much information as they needed in an accessible way.
Each care centre now has its own page featuring relevant news stories, job vacancies and a care centre search tool – along with the centre’s location on an embedded Google map. Our page design also allows Meridian to use their high-quality photos more effectively to promote their care centres, and uses simple icons to display their key features and areas of specialist care.
Before our design and development work began on their new Premiere pages, Meridian asked us to take an integrated approach and rebuild their existing corporate site to incorporate their new Premiere brand. We worked with them to create a more user-friendly structure and efficient traffic channelling, and added the option to increase the website’s font size for added accessibility.
We applied our new Premiere page format to their standard centres too, creating an all-in-one information resource for every care home.
Another addition to Meridian’s website was the creation of their careers centre. More than just a jobs page, we designed a process which filters job posts by location and discipline and presents a step-by-step timeline, created in ExpressionEngine, to take visitors through the entire application process from start to finish.
Creating a good first impression in a job application can take time, which is why we also gave Meridian’s jobs page a login function which allows applicants to save their progress and return to complete their application later. The result is an engaging, streamlined application process all in one place, to encourage more people to apply for Meridian’s roles.
Meridian’s existing website offered comprehensive care advice and information resources to help their customers choose the perfect care home for themselves or their loved ones. As part of our redesign our client asked us to pull together this quite disparate information and present it more effectively. We created a simpler, more visual structure to help readers navigate Meridian’s information resources, and synced their wealth of informative video content from Vimeo for greater bandwidth efficiency.
To help visitors find the right care home, we also added a locator tool using Google Maps to present local centres. Clicking on a centre takes visitors through to its full page to leave an enquiry, request a brochure, read testimonials or learn more about key features and services.
